How to do a trip with your Fashonista puppy

Hi! Sorry for keeping you waiting for so long. I thought this topic would be very interesting to many, because lots have, or like young puppies or dogs.

So, let’s get started:

I just got a puppy, about four months ago, and we just went on a vacation with her!

You might think that doing a vacation with a young pup might be hard, but really, when you get the hang of it, it can really be a blast!!! For you to understand, I’ll tell you a little bit about our vacation with our little one.

The 1st day: We left our house ready and prepared, got everything, and we were about to leave when a nice lady came with her dog. We talked for some time, while pizza, my dog, sprinted laps around our alley. When we got in the car, we were all fine, but after fifteen minutes we got bored. We stoped in the middle for a break, (for us and our furry little friend) and then carried on with our journey. The ride was once again fine, and when we got to the resort we went straight to the beach. (All five of us) After the beach we went to a nice restaurant. The restaurant was great, and so was the night.

The 2nd day: We woke up late, and decided to go riding our bikes to the cafe nearby. We spent about 30 minutes riding our bikes with pizza in a carrier, and then went to the pet friendly cafe, and spent some time there with pizza under us. We rode back the same way, and when we got back, we got ready to go to something called the Wibit, which is a bouncy castle with obstacles on the water, and if you fall, you just fall into the lake. Me and my sister did this while my mom and dad stayed with pizza. After that, we went to get ready to go to dinner. Once again, dinner was quite fun, and we got back earlier which was fun! Soon later we went to bed. We had a big day ahead of us.

The 3rd day: We woke up early, and biked now again to the nearby cafe. This time, we decided to bike back and then drive to a nearby small town, and decide what to do there. After stopping in the way for a visitor centre, we decided to go fruit picking with pizza. After we were done, and had buckets fruit, we wanted to go to a nearby winery and eat some pizza there. After being informed that the place was not pet friendly, we decided to eat somewhere else. After that we went to the lake, and spent a lot of time there. It was fun, and so were the showers after. Dinner was great once again, and after a few family games, we were off to bed.

The 4th day: We woke up later than yesterday, but we decided to still go on our morning ride to the cafe. After that, we decided to go to the Wibit once again. Once we were there, I was the only one who wanted to go in, but gradually, my sister and then dad came in. Later, we decided to go to a nearby market, but when we went there, we saw that it wasn’t dinner, so we where on our way to a different restaurant. When we finally got there, we found nothing to eat, and we didn’t find anything on that whole block either. When we found a nice sushi restaurant, the workers weren’t exactly what you would call polite. But in the end, we finished, had some ice cream, and we where off to bed.

The 5th day: We had been woken up by our parents very early, because we had a very long day ahead of us. Once we were up, we packed a little bit, and then me and my dad went to buy some breakfast, and came back with it, and we were off to the beach. After the beach, we went to pack some more, and then we left. Home here we come! The ride to our stop was fine again, and so was the drive back home. That officially ended our trip.

You see, what I wanted you to see was that, a vacation can be fun, even with a little one.

Now, I will give you a list of things to bring for your pup, whenever you go on a vacation with her or him. Here it is:

  1. LOTS of snacks

    • Sugar peas

    • 2 types of freeze dried snacks

    • Kibble for food and snacks

    • Bully stick

    • Plaque removal sticks

  2. Some toys

    • Chewing toys

    • Tugging toys

    • Whatever you find is okay, if it is not too small

  3. Snuggle puppy (a small furry fake puppy, that you put in her/his crate that helps with anxiety. I recommend to put it in their crate from the day they come to your house, just make sure to take it out in the day time, so they don’t rip it or anything.)

  4. Crate (a little cage for them to sleep and nap in)

  5. Towel (for if they get wet, but make sure it is not valuable to you)

  6. Water/food bowl

  7. Cleaning supplies (so if they have an accident, you can clean it up right away.)

Really, it’s not that much!

Next I’ll give you some tips about how to travel and go on trips with your pup. Here it is:

  1. If you’re going on a long drive with your puppy, I suggest to have them in a crate, because otherwise, they might have an accident in the car, and in the crate, because they feel it is their space, so they will not have an accident, because dogs don’t take space as inside or outside, (like us) they take it as ‘my space’ and ‘not my space’.

  2. If you are frustrated at your dog, or just think they could use a nap, you can always just put them in the crate, to rest for a bit. That goes for in the house too. Anywhere really!

  3. When you go to the ocean, beach or lake, don’t you love the feel of it? Well, puppies and dogs in general, love that too! It is a great idea to give them the opportunity to go in the water if they want. If not, that is perfectly fine too! You can try again another time.

  4. If your puppy is tired, and does not want to go somewhere or do something, let them! Like we need our time, they need it too! Especially on vacation when they are always very hyper, and energetic. If that doesn’t work out, just know that they might want to be left alone whenever they can.

  5. When you are on a trip with a puppy, just like a baby, sometimes you won’t be able to do some things, and you have to just know that. But, you can also do different things, like shopping for your pup with them! I personally enjoy doing that!

  6. This last one goes for when you’re at home too: If your puppy doesn’t do something the way you want, there is no need to yell at them, they are just learning! Like babies!

I have some photos to share with you! Here they are:
