Why Kids Shouldn't be Allowed Makeup at an Early Age

Hi everyone! I'm really excited to talk about this topic, because it's important in my opinion and super not talked about.
Please note that this post is not to blame the parents or guardians of the child, just to express my opinion in a topic that is important to me.
Let's start.
In our society, we see makeup. No matter what we do, it'll always be there. Some people wear it to impress others, or for themselves. Some want to put it on just to experiment, or for special occasions and some every day. The list goes on and on.

At first, makeup is just a toy. Something to make kids be together, to play with each other, to have fun. As kids get older, it is normal for them to want to experiment with makeup, usually at first with colours, and then "grown up" makeup.
While the process is different for every person, and some might not be interested in makeup at all, a lot of times kids use makeup from an early age. In my opinion, that is wrong. Here's why.
After a certain amount of years, kids understand who they are. That comes together with accepting yourself, which is a hard step for some. It comes at different times and phases of one's life. Usually, this comes at about age 11 or 12.
With these also comes the realization that they are beautiful. They don't have to be pretty in everyone's eyes, but just themselves and the the people around them is enough for them to believe in their beauty.

They understand that they are beautiful no matter what they do, wear, put on or love. That understanding is essential in my opinion, in order to make life easier in the society we live in.
If this understanding is not yet found and kids start wearing makeup, they may never think they are beautiful without it.
Makeup has a very big impact of little kids' life, and if they wear it regularly, it may be irreversible.

In my opinion, it is your job, as parents and guardians, to remind your children and the children around you, that they are beautiful no matter what. It is also your job to insure that your children and the children around you get the help they need in order to make the step to putting on makeup in a way that will only be gainful.
Because, makeup is fun! To me, it is an exciting thing, yet it doesn't change me, or how I think of myself.

Until next time,
~A
